REMNANTS Launch Tour Stop #8 - Book Birthday!

Hello lovely readers! Welcome to stop #8 in Lisa T. Bergren's Remnants Launch Tour. I'm so thrilled to have Lisa, one of my all-time favorite authors(eeep!! She's so amazing!), guest posting on the blog today because it's the big release day for Remnants: Season of Wonder!

Happy Book Birthday to you!
*insert confetti, sparklers, and noise makers*

I was lucky enough to get an early read of Remnants and let me tell you, Lisa has done it again! Okay I won't say anything else. Nope. I'll leave the gushing for my review, which will be posted very soon ;)

Now, I think it's about time I hand things over to the wonderful Lisa T. Bergren!

MY FAVORITE BIRTHDAY MEMORY
by Lisa T. Bergren

Seven years ago, I had my favorite birthday EVER. Now my River of Time Tribe will be aghast, but it was in Florence, or Firenze, as they say in Italia (the enemies of the Sienese in my series). I was researching River and dragged my kids, hubby and parents along (okay, I didn’t really have to drag—they were pretty willing).

We spent a couple of nights in Florence, and I knew exactly where I wanted to have my birthday…at a wonderful, family-oriented trattoria called il Latina, in the northern part of the city, in which we’d had our very favorite meal the last time we’d been in Italy. It’s a place where the locals and tourists-in-the-know line up to wait for a table an hour before, milling about on the streets as the staff eat their dinner first, ignoring us through the window. Cured hams hang from the rafters. People are seated at tables together. There are no menus—the waiters just ask if you want the next thing and how many. White bean soup with truffle oil, antipasto, the hugest steaks I’ve ever seen anywhere that you need to share (a Florentine specialty, bistecca), wine served from communal jugs, limoncello to top it all off and dessert we couldn’t possibly eat.

Upon our return, a fellow at a nearby table played with my four-year-old, making monkey faces. The room was rife with animated conversation and laughter. My dad told stories about his childhood to my young children, sharing history as we made new history together. I adored being surrounded by my loved ones as I entered my fourth decade, and the night will forever be stamped in my memory.

In the end, the waiters brought out a dessert with a sparkler (that again, I couldn’t possibly eat), and they sang “Happy Birthday” in Italian and the night was marked with pure joy and celebration.

How will I celebrate my 50th in a few years? I’m thinking Tahiti. But Tim, my husband, wants to celebrate his in Italia. And we just might return to il Latina to celebrate.

THEIR ARRIVAL WAS FORETOLD FOR YEARS….

Andriana is a Remnant, gifted as an empath and one of the Ailith, destined to act as humanity’s last shield against the horrors that now plague those who remain.

After years of training in stealth and warfare, Andriana and her Knight protector, Ronan, are finally ready to answer the Call and begin the life they were designed for. But as they embark with the other Remnants on the first of their assignments, they quickly discover that the world beyond their protected Valley is more dangerous than they imagined.

The Sons of Sheol will stop at nothing to prevent Dri and Ronan from rescuing anyone sympathetic to the Remnants’ cause. And as the Remnants battle the demonic forces, still other enemies close in. Dangers intensity, but so do Dri’s feelings for Ronan–the one emotion she is not meant to feel. In the midst of their mission, Andriana must fine a way to master her feelings. Or risk compromising everything…

  2. I can't really think of a favorite birthday memory since almost all of my birthdays are kinda the same. They are always a family affair where almost all of mine 8 siblings and parents get together and we are always allowed to invite one family which for the last 10 years has been my best friend and her family who are like my second family. We have a big meal and dessert, open presents and then just have fun!

  3. My favorite birthday memory is going to Farrell's for ice cream. It was a more simpler time where a child could enjoy fun.

  4. Aw, how awesome to spend your birthday in Italy! One memory that stands out was when I got my first barbie doll for my 7th birthday ... It was a ballerina Barbie and Kelly set. I remember I had really wanted one and played with it forever afterwards. =)
Thanks for the chance to win!

  7. My favorite memory is how my mom would (and still does) always make my favorite cake on my birthday, and for that day, everything would be about me! My family definitely knows how to celebrate birth days!

  9. I can't exactly remember my favorite birthday memory because like someone else said, my birthdays were all pretty similar. Homemade cake, ice cream, presents all day long, hanging out with my sibs. I've been in a bit of a funk for the last few years and refused to celebrate my birthday but for some reason, I feel differently this year. I'm turning 19 next month on Memorial Day and I cannot wait!!
