Blog Tour: Blue Skies Tomorrow

Blue Skies Tomorrow by Sarah Sundin
Revell (August 1, 2011)
Christian - Historical - Romance

Lt. Raymond Novak prefers the pulpit to the cockpit, but at least his stateside job training B-17 pilots allows him the luxury of a personal life. As he courts Helen Carlisle, a young war widow and mother who conceals her pain under a frenzy of volunteer work, the sparks of their romance set a fire that flings them both into peril. After Ray leaves to fly a combat mission at the peak of the air war over Europe, Helen takes a job in a dangerous munitions yard and confronts an even graver menace in her own home. Will they find the courage to face their challenges? And can their young love survive until blue skies return?

..My Thoughts..

Blue Skies Tomorrow was such a wonderful, enjoyable read. This is a beautifully written story filled with action, drama, suspense, and romance. Sarah takes readers back to the 1940’s with a descriptive writing style that makes you feel like you’re part of that time experiencing all the joys and hardship it had to offer. The characters came across as real people and I loved watching them grow both spiritually and mentally through the course of the story. I actually felt like I knew some of them personally. I was rooting for Helen and Ray the whole time, hoping their romance would grow and that everything turned out great for them.

The WWII setting was one of the main reasons I wanted to read this because it’s one of my favorite times to read about. I really didn’t expect to fall in love with the story and characters as much as I did. Even though I started reading this late into the series, I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. I still really want to go back and read the first two in the series so I can get to know the other two Novak brothers a little better. I can't wait to see what other fantastic stories Sarah has in store for us next!
