Once upon a baby brother. Sarah Sullivan. FSC. June 2010.
Hardcover. 32 pages. Reading Level: Ages 4-8
Ever since Lizzie could talk she loved to tell all kinds of stories. She would tell them to just about anyone that would listen. When her baby brother, Marvin, came along no one had time to listen anymore, except for her dog Big George. When she entered the second grade, Lizzie was excited to find out that her teacher, Miss Pennyroyal, loved stories too and all the kids in the class got a chance to write some of their own. One day after her mom took Marvin to grammas house, Lizzie couldn't come up with any stories. Her imagination dried up. Something was missing, but she couldn't quite figure out what it was. Will she be able to get her writing muse back?
This is an adorable book. It encourages kids to express themselves through the art of writing. It was cute seeing how Lizzie's feelings toward her brother changed by the end of the story. My 4 year old niece really liked this one and she loved the pictures. The illustrations couldn't have been more perfect for the story. This would be great for kids that have younger siblings or have just had one come into the family.
